A second Dunkin’ Donuts is coming to Johnston County.

The Smithfield Town Council on Tuesday approved plans for a 6,000-square-foot building with four storefronts at Dail Street and North Bright Leaf Boulevard. Applicant Volga Corp. of Cary plans to house a Dunkin’ Donuts in one of the four spaces. The shop will have a drive-through window. Construction will start this fall.

Dunkin’ Donuts is the world’s largest coffee and baked-goods chain, serving more than 3 million customers per day. The restaurant has more than 5,000 franchises in the United States, including a shop on Enterprise Drive in Clayton.
