Tomorrow (Thursday) is a big day for thousands of young people across the county. Local high schools will hold graduation ceremonies in their football stadiums (or gyms, in case of inclement weather).Although it has been a while since anyone here at The Herald attended high school, we try to keep in mind that graduation day is a big deal, even to those students who might not want to admit it.For some people, it is the culmination of their educational career and should be celebrated accordingly. To many others, it is the first step on the path towards college or other higher education institution.Even time hasn’t diminished the memories of often painful and awkward moments in high school. And we are inclined to believe that attending high school hasn’t gotten any easier since we graduated all those years ago. Today’s students are faced with some issues many of us didn’t have to worry about — at least not actively — when we were in school. School shootings, gang violence and the availability of drugs are just some things that come to mind. But tomorrow should be dedicated to celebration (obviously in a responsible fashion). You have the rest of your life to worry.Congratulations, all graduates!
